Man sets wife, daughters ablaze in Chikkaballapura
BENGALURU: In a horrific incident, a mother and her two daughters were set on fire allegedly by her husband by dousing them in kerosene in Hennur village of Sidlaghatta taluk in Chikkaballapura district on Wednesday early morning and all the three succumbed to severe burn injuries.
It is alleged that Sonnappa was upset with his wife filing a criminal case against him and also demanding share in the property which is said to be the reason for him to take the extreme step to kill his wife and daughters.
After setting his wife and daughters on fire, Sonnappa allegedly attempted suicide by consuming pesticide. He has been shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru where he is undergoing treatment.
Police gave the names of the deceased as Netra (35) wife of Sonnappa alias Sonnegowda, daughters Varshitha (11) and Sneha (9).
It is alleged that Sonnappa and Netra were at loggerheads for over two years and Netra had filed a domestic violence case against her husband. Netra also sought alimony from her husband. Besides, Netra also filed a case in the Court against her father-in-law demanding share in the property.
According to the police, Sonnappa and Netra were constantly involved in an argument and it took an ugly turn on Wednesday when Sonnappa first attacked his wife and daughters with a hard weapon and later doused them in kerosene before setting them on fire.
Police found half burnt bodies of Netra and her daughters at the house. Meanwhile, Sonnappa has been shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru and is in intensive care. Sidlaghatta police have registered a case and investigations are on.
