AIADMK man hacked to death in Namakkal
Namakkal: An AIADMK functionary was murdered by a gang near Senthamangalam in Namakkal district on Tuesday night over a real estate business issue. Police said that RRP Suresh, 46, hailing from Vettukadu village, was the secretary of the Senthamangalam union of Jayalalithaa Peravai and also holding the post of chairman for the primary agricultural society at Vettukadu. He was involved in real estate business and financing.
On Tuesday night he was driving his car to his native village of Vettukadu. After parking his car at his friend’s farm, he was returning to the village by motorbike along with his friend. When they reached the village, the streetlights were turned off suddenly and a duo sprayed chilli powder on them. They lost control of the bike and it skidded on the road. The duo hacked Suresh repeatedly and fled from the spot. He was admitted to a private hospital in Namakkal where doctors declared him brought dead.
After registering a case, Namakkal SP Arularasu ordered the formation of three special teams to search for the murderers.
A police officer said, “Suresh was involved in threatening land owners and purchasing disputed lands. A local resident Vimalkumar pledged his land to Suresh’s friend Kumar but the latter sold the land to a third party without informing the land owner.
When Vimalkumar met him with money, he did not hand over the land. Suresh used his political influence to help his friend Kumar. Police suspect that he might have been murdered over the issue.
