Anantapur: Grieved over man's death, wife and son commit suicide
ANANTAPUR: In a tragic incident, a civil services aspirant, Indra Reddy, committed suicide along with his mother after being unable to digest the death of his father due to a brief illness at Kamalapuram town in Kadapa district late on Tuesday. Locals identified the dead bodies of the mother and son on Wednesday and alerted the police.
Sources said K. Prasad Reddy, 57, and his family were residing at Srinagar Colony in Kamalapuram town for the last few years. He was suffering from cancer for the last one year and died three months ago. Prasad Reddy’s only son, K. Indra Reddy, who was preparing for civil services examination in Kolkata returned home soon after the death of his father.
The attachment with his father drove Indra Reddy into depression. Even his mother, Gowri, too went into depression following the death of her husband. On Tuesday evening, Gowri and Indra Reddy committed suicide by consuming pesticide in their house. Finding that Gowri had not opened the doors even by afternoon, their neighbours peeped through the windows and found the duo in an unconscious state. Soon they alerted the police who found the duo were dead and recovered a suicide note from the spot in which Indra Reddy mentioned that his mother and he were taking the extreme step as they were not able to cope up with the loss of their father.
“Many people tried to instill confidence in us after the death of my father but we are not able to get back to normalcy without him,” Indra Reddy stated in the suicide note. He also stated that any achievement is negligible without his father. Police shifted bodies to the hospital for post-mortem.
