Auto Driver Attacks Minor Boy With Knife in Jagadgirigutta
Hyderabad: An auto driver Yadagiri, 32, attacked a nine-year-old boy identified as Aadi at Rajiv Gruhakalpa under Jagathgirigutta PS of Cyberabad commissionerate in the city on Monday. Yadagiri noticed the boy playing near the latter's house, picked him up, dragged him near the school where his daughter was studying, pinned him to the ground, and slashed his throat.
SHO Jagathgirigutta K Kranti Kumar said the boy is in critical condition. A hunt is on to arrest the suspect at the earliest. The attack was caught on CCTVs in the area.
Aadi stayed with his mother, Laxmi, a daily labourer. Due to financial conditions, he stopped schooling and was at home. His father abandoned them a few years ago.
Yadagiri stays a few houses away from Laxmi's residence. He was having differences with his wife. She left him a year ago and returned recently, and he continued quarrelling with her.
Yadagiri went to his daughter's school on Monday afternoon to meet her. However, the school staff did not let him meet his daughter and refused to send her to him.
In a rage, he came to the main road and saw Aadi playing. He picked up Aadi, dragged him near the school, and attacked him.
Police said Aadi suffered a deep cut injury in his throat and recommended surgery for him. Prima facie, the motive behind the attack is unknown, but police suspect that angered by his wife's behaviour towards him, he could have planned to attack their child, but since he could not get her, he attacked Aadi, police said.
