Hyderabad: A second case of sexual assault at Azaan International School came to light on Friday. The second victim, Class I student, was reportedly assaulted on September 14, the same day a four-year-old LKG student was raped by a school employee. The school had organised a science exhibition on that day. It was not clear if the Class 1 student was assaulted by the same man, supervisor Mohd Jeelani, who allegedly raped the LKG student.
Golconda inspector Mohd Munnawar told this correspondent: “A parent approached us alleging that his daughter, who is studying in Class I, was sexually assaulted on September 14 on the school premises. We have registered a case and started investigations.” Golconda inspector Mohn Munnawar, who said the parent of the Class 1 student had filed a complaint, said: “They said they wanted to file a complaint the same day, but backed off after noticing the trouble and media glare at the school when the other case was reported.”
Mohd Jeelani, a supervisor, arrested for allegedly for sexually assaulting the four-year-old student, has been since sent to judicial remand. The first case resulted in locals vandalising the school and police registering four cases against the protestors. The incident came to the fore when the girl complained of pain to her father. She was taken to a hospital, where she narrated the episode to the doctors.
A case has been booked against the man. Based on a complaint filed by the parents in the first case, the Golconda police station registered a case under IPC Section 376 2(i) (public servant taking advantage of his official position and rapes a woman in his custody) and relevant sections of POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) Act of 2012. The accused was sent to judicial remand.
