Actor Navdeep served notice in Drug Abuse case

HYDERABAD: The TS Anti-Narcotics Bureau police on Thursday served a notice under CrPC Section 41A on Tollywood actor Navdeep, listed as Accused No. 37 in the Madhapur drugs case, summoning him for a hearing on September 23 at the H-New office at 11 am. The police have accused Navdeep of taking drugs with his friend Ram Chand. The Telangana High Court on Wednesday had directed the police to take necessary steps to interrogate him. Navdeep’s name surfaced in a drugs racket facilitated by well-known pubs and also in the Tollywood drugs scandal in 2017. The case was later taken up by the Enforcement Directorate.

Ex-HG murder: 8 held

HYDERABAD: IS Sadan police arrested eight persons for the kidnap and murder of an ex-Home Guard, Mohammed Rizwan, on September 11. Police said the gang had confined Rizwan in a flat in AC Guards, Bazaar Ghat, and assaulted him over loans that he had allegedly not repaid. They called his father Mohammed Afzal for Rs 2 lakh ransom, collected the money and released Rizwan. The victim who sustained serious injuries died while undergoing treatment on September 18 night. Southeast zone DCP Ch Rupesh identified the accused as Khaja Nayeemuddin (54), Mohammed Saleem (40), Khaja Fareed Uddin Qadri (24) Mohammed Fahad Khan (31), Dappula Hari Prasad (28), Gulam Mohammed Khan alias Shahed (29), Abrar Hussain and Mohammed Abdul Rahman (33) all locals. Another accused, Salahuddin, is absconding. The accused told the police that Rizwan had borrowed Rs 33 lakh from Mohammed Saleem and did not return the money. He also did not tell them where he had invested the money.

Man arrested for organising ‘mujra’:

HYDERABAD: Habeebnagar police arrested Mohammed Akbar, a 36-year-old rowdy sheeter, for reportedly organising a ‘mujra’ and dancing with cross-dressers, to celebrate the birthday of his eldest son at his house in Subhanpura. A video of the dance was widely shared on social media. The police booked him for obscene dancing and disobedience.
