Kakinada: Four youth from Tanuku – Tirumala Raviteja (21), Pendiyala Balaji (21), Anumakonda Karthik (21) and Mudana Phendra Ganesh (21) –- have got washed away Godavari River near Gopilanka village of Tallarevu mandal in Kakinada district on Saturday evening.
According to Koringa police, Karthik had celebrated his birthday 10 days ago. In connection with that, Karthik and six others came to River Godavari near Gopilanka on Saturday morning for a party.
Towards the evening, six of the youth ventured to have a bath in the river. Karthik ended up going deeper into the river and started drowning. Hearing his cries, three others tried to rescue him. But all the four have gone missing.
Police have commissioned swimmers for search operations.
Koringa police have registered a case.
