Anantapur: A loaded lorry fell into a channel after the bridge of High Level Main Canal near Vadiyar Tank in Kanekal collapsed on Tuesday. The driver and cleaner escaped unhurt in the incident.
Sources said the main bridge across the High Level Canal was sanctioned during the previous TD government and works were reportedly stopped after necessary funds were not sanctioned to complete the bridge.
On Tuesday, a lorry loaded with paddy was passing the bridge which collapsed and the lorry fell into the channel. The farmers demanded the government should initiate the construction of new bridges across the High Level Canal of Tungabhadra.
