Hyderabad: Nagara Gopal, photographer of an English daily, suffered a serious head injury in an attack by a reporter at Neredmet on Tuesday while covering an event of Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Neredmet.
Police said that Gopal while taking pictures during the programme scuffled with the local reporter identified as Mahesh. After the programme ended, Mahesh hit Gopal with a lathi on his head, Neredmet inspector A. Shiva Kumar said. Mahesh works for a Telugu channel.
Gopal suffered a bleeding injury and fell unconscious, police said. He was taken to a hospital where he was administered six stitches. His condition is stable.
Mahesh alleged that Gopal had abused him not letting him take pictures, the inspector said. The reporter, who has been booked for the attack, filed a counter complaint.
