Vijayawada: Online gambling is costing the lives of innocent youth. Udhyaman a young lab technician had committed suicide in Vijayawada after falling into debt trap with online rummy sites. According to Suryaraopet police, Udhyaman P.S., a 32-year-old native of Kerala, had worked as a dialysis assistant at a private hospital in the city and residing at Suryaraopet along with his other colleagues. Udhyaman, a gaming freak, got addicted to the online rummy websites after he got a new smartphone an year ago.
He spent all his salary on rummy and lost all his money, says Shareef, sub-inspector of police, Suryaraopet. “Udhayaman, who was normal in the initial days, got attracted to the ads posted by online gambling sites and spent huge money which he acquired from others in the form of debts. He totally lost all his savings and finally lost his job a month ago,”said his roommates.
“He is not paying room rent since months but we never forced him considering his financial position. We noticed blood from his mouth on Tuesday and informed the police,” said his friends. “We identified that Udhayaman committed suicide by consuming some medicines.We will get full details once we receive reports from the forensic department,” said sub-inspector Shareef.
