Hyderabad: Man impersonates as gangster’s bro for blackmail
Hyderabad: A 20-year-old man from Yadadri Bhongir district, who reportedly lost money after investing in QNet schemes, attempted to extort Rs 4 crore from an employee of a real estate firm by impersonating the younger brother of slain gangster Mohammed Nayeemuddin.
Following a complaint, the Medipally police arrested B. Vijay Reddy on Monday and produced him before the court for judicial remand.
A week ago, the Medipally police received a complaint from one T.V. Srinivas Rao, marketing manager of Sri Sai Hari Hara Estates Pvt Ltd, that a stranger had called him on his phone on April 16, claimed to be Raheem, the younger brother of Nayeemuddin, and demanded Rs 4 crore with a day, failing which he would kill the owner of the firm and his son. The police registered a case under IPC section 384 (extortion) have zeroed in on Vijay Reddy, 20, a resident of SN Colony and native of Saigudem in Yadadri Bhongir district on Monday.
Medipally inspector B. Anji Reddy said Vijay was in need of money after quitting many jobs. He joined as a member in the QNet multi-level marketing business by investing `1 lakh.
