Rachakonda police arrest interstate drug peddler, seize 50 gram drugs
HYDERABAD: The Rachakonda commissionerate's Special Operation Team (SOT) sleuths nabbed a Kerala-based interstate drug peddler identified as Chalapurath Sumesh and seized 50 grams of MDMA from him. His associate Adhuu Shalbin, who also belongs to Kerala but operates from Bengaluru, is absconding.
Sumesh, working as a driver, procured drugs from Shalbin and was supplying to clients in different parts of Hyderabad. In 2021, he along with his associates were caught while transporting 240 kg ganja. He was also detained under the PD Act.
On credible information, SOT LB Nagar Zone team along with Vanasthalipuram police nabbed Sumesh late on Thursday, said Rachakonda commissioner D.S. Chauhan in an official release.
Inquiries revealed that Sumesh is residing in Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. He started procuring Ganja and supplying to the needy customers of Kerala and Hyderabad.
After completing his detention period, he came out prison and entered the synthetic drugs business.
He joined with his associate Adhuu Shalbin, who also belongs to Kerala and started supplying drugs. The duo has clients in Karnataka, AP and Hyderabad, to whom Sumesh supplied drugs for a commission.
He would purchase MDMA for upto Rs 5,000 per gram from Shablin and supplied to his clients for up to Rs 8,000 per gram.
On information of his arrival from Bengaluru to deliver drugs to his clients, police nabbed him and seized 50 grams of MDMA, cash Rs 2,040, his mobile phone, all worth around Rs 5 lakh from him.
Meanwhile, police appealed to people to stay from drugs and also inform them of any such activities.
