Woman kills intruder for allegedly molesting her in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A woman killed an intruder who allegedly tried to molest her when she was sleeping outside her house, at Budvel, Rajendranagar police said on Friday. The incident occurred at about 2.30 am at Chakali basti and the victim was identified as K. Srinivas.
"Fearing that he was going to harm me, I raised an alarm and attacked him to defend myself," she told the police.
Police said the woman and her husband, construction workers, were sleeping outside their single room house, in view of the weather. The woman was woken up by someone moving near her, and saw a stranger touching her inappropriately and trying to pull her sari.
She pushed the stranger away and raised an alarm. The stranger who was later identified as Srinivas, 46, allegedly drunk, advanced towards her even as she and her husband tried to drive him away.
When Srinivas did not stop, she told the police, she picked up a plastic pipe and attacked him. As he fell to the ground, the couple kicked him repeatedly, leaving him unconscious.
Meanwhile, neighbours gathered at the spot and alerted police who went to the spot and shifted Srinivas to hospital, where he was declared dead.
Police said Srinivas stayed a few hundred metres away in the same locality, was jobless and had taken to drinking.
His family members were unsure how he found himself at the spot. “He came home drunk and went to sleep. When my mother woke up to drink water, he was not seen. We searched for him. We do not know why he was there at the time of the incident,” Srinivas’s son K. Babu said.
Rajendranagar police registered a murder case on a complaint from Babu and started investigation. "The woman's statement will be recorded and submitted to the court," said Rajendranagar station house officer B. Nagendra Babu.
