A 19-year-old woman allegedly killed her 18-month baby girl and buried her with the help of her boyfriend. The incident took place in Mangalapalem under Duvvada police station limits in Vizag city.
Though the baby girl died a few days ago, it came to light on Saturday when the semi-decomposed body was pulled out by stray dogs. The deceased girl was identified as Geetha Sree. The police said that the baby’s mother Bangaru Sneha, 19, and her live-in-partner (former boyfriend) N. Ramana killed the baby girl on July 17 and buried her near the bushes.
The investigation has revealed that Sneha, a resident of Gajuwaka locality in Vizag eloped with her boyfriend Sai a few years ago and stayed in Vijayawada. She was blessed with a baby girl. However, Sai was addicted to liquor and used to pick up fights with Sneha. Unable to bear the harassment, Sneha along with her daughter Geetha Sree returned to Vizag city around three months ago. She decided to lead a life with her former boyfriend Ramana. The duo along with the baby girl stayed in a rented house at Mangalapalem in Vizag city. The couple was not happy with the baby girl due to various reasons. When the girl was crying on July 15, Sneha hit the baby girl with a rice ladle, resulting in the girl dying of head injuries. Sneha and Ramana buried the body in the bushes to suppress the crime. However, the crime was exposed by the stray dogs.
“We have registered a case against Sneha and Ramana and the investigation is on,‘’ said inspector of Duvvada Police Station, B. Srinivasa Rao.
