Andhra Pradesh: CBI ASP Ram Singh back on Vivekananda Reddy case
ANANTAPUR: CBI ASP Ram Singh, officer investigating the murder of Vivekananda Reddy facing private cases filed by close aides of those accused in the former MP’s murder, arrived in Pulivendula of YSR district on Friday to continue leading the investigation process.
Ram Singh’s return has attracted attention of all sections, in particular other suspects mentioned by Dr. Sunitha, daughter of Vivekananda Reddy.
The re-entry of ASP Ram Singh on Friday took an interesting turn after the investigating team summoned Dastagir to the CBI’s camp office.
Dastagir, former driver of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy and also an accused in the murder, tuned approver; following which he is facing a threat from other accused.
Dastagiri and his wife Shabana arrived at the Pulivendula R&B Guest House. They reportedly expressed fears about threat to their life from YSRC leaders. Sources said Dastagir informed CBI officials of threatening calls he has been receiving from a group of YSRC leaders from Tondur mandal since past few weeks.
Incidentally, CBI has restarted its investigation in the Viveka murder case after Supreme Court issued notices to AP government and CBI over the delay in completing the investigation even after three years of the murder.
Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr. Suntiha had also requested the Supreme Court to transfer the murder case to a state other than Andhra Pradesh.
