CBI summons MP Avinash to Hyderabad

ANANTAPUR: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has served notice to Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy to appear before its office in Hyderabad on Tuesday in the three-year-old former MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

The CBI team arrived in Pulivendula of YSR district on Monday and went to YSRC office. It handed over its notice to the personal assistant of Avinash Reddy, as the MP was not available in Pulivendula.

Reacting to the notice, Avinash Reddy said he is ready to cooperate with CBI but will not be able to appear before the agency in Hyderabad on Tuesday due to prior commitments and official programmes. The MP said he will present himself before the CBI after four days.

After three years, the Vivekananda murder case has been transferred to the Telangana CBI court after the murdered MP’s daughter, Dr. Sunitha, complained against AP government for not cooperating with investigators and threatening witnesses.

In her statement to CBI, Dr. Sunitha mentioned 15 suspects, including MP Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskar Reddy. Bhaskar Reddy had appeared before the CBI in the initial stages of investigation.

The inquiry has gained attention from all sections in Pulivendula.
