Congress leader faces land-grab charge
Warangal: Warangal commissionerate police officials are continuing their operations against instances of land grabbing by registering a case against Congress party Corporator Jakkula Ravinder in Madikonda police station in Hanamkonda.
Police acted after victims complained that Ravinder, corporator of 62nd division, had illegally and forcibly seized their five guntas of land near Thalla Padmavathi Engineering College in Somidi region of Kazipet. Madikonda police officials had earlier carried out a primary investigation. They registered the case after coming to conclusion that Ravinder had a hand in the land grab.
Two days ago, police officials had arrested ruling BRS party corporator of 7th division Vemula Srinivas for allegedly encroaching private land and have sent him to Khammam jail.
Incidentally, after taking charge of Warangal commissionerate, police commissioner A.V. Ranganath received several complaints of havoc being caused by land mafia who are forcibly grabbing lands in the fast growing tri-cities of Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet.
Rangananth has asked police officials to keep a tab on the land mafia within Warangal police commissionerate and not spare political leaders, including those of ruling BRS, if they are involved in encroaching lands of private persons.
It is learnt that the commissioner is keeping a strict vigil on police personnel colluding with land mafia and involved in land settlements. It is said some of the corrupt personnel are seeking transfers to other districts fearing action against them.
