KOTTAYAM: The police will file the chargesheet in the Anjaly murder case on March 30, more than seven years after the incident happened. Anjaly, a paraplegic, was thrown into a ravine at Karikkad top at Vagamon by her husband Pradeep Kumar on October 27, 2009 after she was given sleeping pills. Her bones were retrieved after search by the police and the locals in the ravine over three years after the incident. The chargesheet will be presented at the Changanassery Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, said Changanassery Circle Inspector Binu Varghese.
The Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad, which examined the decomposed bones, had failed to prove that they were of Anjaly. This may weaken the chargesheet. However, there are witnesses who saw Pradeep Kumar, the first accused, carrying Anjaly to the hospital after she fell ill. It was later that he threw her into the ravine.
He admitted the crime after the police questioned him over a complaint filed by a woman. “There are corroborating pieces of evidence to prove that the bones were of Anjaly,” Mr Binu Varghese told DC. The bones were first sent to the FSL, Thiruvananthapuram, on September 13, 2013 and to the CFSL, Hyderabad, in May 2015. Pradeep Kumar and his mother Prabhavathy, second accused, are out on bail.
