Bengaluru: Panel member - Harinder Shetty under scanner for long
Bengaluru: Actions of Mr Harinder Shetty, who was unanimously removed as the chairman of Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) on Sunday, smack of arbitrariness and an attempt to derive personal benefit from the deals, including the solar lighting contract, security cameras for the club, employing people through agencies of which he supposedly has an interest and his various dealings with the totalisator operators, have come in for critical scrutiny and got the disapproval of the entire managing committee, alleged a member of the club.
Mr Shetty’s attempts to push through proposals without following standard operating procedures have been questioned by the committee members earlier, the member told Deccan Chronicle.
Meanwhile, the Highgrounds police, who had summoned all the accused in the complaint filed by BTC managing committee member and a horse owner Chandregowda, recorded statements of Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer Dr H.S. Mahesha and Chief Stipendiary Officer Pradyumna Singh on Sunday. The police would record the statements of other accused on Monday.
‘Club affairs transparent’
“The club conducts its affairs in a spirit of transparency and it is confident that sufficient procedures are in place to detect any form of wrongdoings. The managing committee wishes to put the animosity of the past week generated by Queen Latifa controversy behind and seeks the constructive engagement and cooperation with the govt to ensure the interest of the racing public are best served,” a senior committee member told Deccan Chronicle.
Filly’s samples to international lab.
The committee members at the meeting on Sunday also decided to send the split samples of the filly, Queen Latifa, to an international lab for detailed analysis. “It is unlikely that the lab will accept the sample for the detected procaine in the first sample was 1.22 ng/ml, far below the permissible amount which is 10 ng/ml. However, the standard procedure would be followed,” a committee member said.
However, the split samples of Rafa and Kvasir ?- two other horses ?that tested positive for procaine and Oxyphenbutazone respectively ?- ?would be sent to an international lab for detailed analysis only if the trainers wanted the confirmatory report, following which future course of action will be decided.
Complaint bogus: New chairman.
Commenting on the controversy surrounding the allegations of covering up dope test results, BTC’s newly elected chairman Yathiraj Jagannath told Deccan Chronicle that the complaint was bogus and the allegation would be proved baseless. Mr Jagannath also ruled out the possibility of the government intervening on the issue.
