Man booked for torturing girlfriend, raping her
KAKINADA: Police booked a 29-year-old autorickshaw driver for confining his 23-year-old girlfriend, an engineering student, at his parents’ residence and pouring boiling oil on her hands for refusing his sexual advances and raping her.
The issue came to light after the victim informed her parents, who rescued her and admitted her to the Eluru Government Hospital, and lodged a complaint with the Eluru Three Town police.
The police said the accused, a native of Duggirala village, who worked as an autorickshaw driver, and the woman, a third-year BTech student of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Kakinada, were in a relationship for five years.
On April 7, the man promised to marry the girl and took her to a temple in Chennai, but then said he was unable to do so due to some religious vows he had taken. Later, he convinced her to accompany him to his parents’ house as it was vacant on April 9, Eluru Three Town circle inspector K.S. Prasada Rao said.
He made sexual advances but she turned him down. The next day, he dragged her to the kitchen, dipped her hands in boiling oil and later raped her. When he tried to force himself on her on Saturday night, the woman threatened to inform her parents, following which he tried to strangulate her to death with a phone charging cable.
