Hyderabad police curbs on dosa vendors
Hyderabad: The police has imposed restrictions on dosa carts to prevent youths from gathering around them. The cops have asked cart owners to end operations before midnight.
South Zone additional DCP K. Babu Rao said that it was noticed that most youths involved in crimes were gathering near dosa carts. “In the fist fight case which claimed a life last year, all the nine youths apprehended said they used to gather near dosa carts before fist fights,” he said.
He added, “In several cases, we found that youths gathered near dosa carts rush to violent spots when they come to know about minor incidents. These youths simply make the issue bigger,” he said.
Before imposing the restrictions, the police held several raids as part of ‘Operation Roaming Youth,’ ‘Mission Chabutra,’ and ‘Cordon & Search’. The police has also imposed restrictions on wine bars and restaurants.
Mr Babu Rao said that most youths of old city, who roam around at night were singles at home and their parents were abroad. “We have counselled hundreds of youths. Their parents are abroad and the children are leading a lavish life using the money send by them,” he said.
The additional DCP said that police was allowing food carts in places like hospitals. “Except hospitals we are imposing restrictions from 12 pm to 4 am,” he said.
DCP, V. Satyanarayana told DC earlier that police was registering cases against owners of dosa carts, who repeatedly violate restriction orders. “The restrictions are issued under the City Police Act in order to maintain law and order in the old city,” he said.
