After son's death, man ends life in Odisha's Ganjam district
GANJAM: An elderly man and his son hailing from Kusapada village under Dharakote police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district were on Saturday found dead at their home. The deceased were identified as Rajendra Panda, 55, and his son Kalpabat, 20.
It is suspected that both committed suicide over some family dispute. Sources said Kalpabat hanged himself after he was reportedly reprimanded by his father for watching TV and extensive use of mobile. Unable to bear the loss of his son, Rajendra too subsequently committed suicide by hanging himself.
Kalpabat was a meritorious student and studying in Aska ITI. However, in recent times, he was not paying attention to his studies and kept busy watching TV. His father had reportedly scolded him for the same. He ended his life by hanging himself from a jackfruit tree in the nearby bamboo jungle. Holding himself responsible for the death of his son, Rajendra later ended his life, villagers said.
On getting information, Aska police rushed to the spot and later sent the bodies to the Aska Community Health Centre for post-mortem.
