ACB sleuths unearth hidden assets of two officials in Guntur, Srikakulam

VIJAYAWADA: The state Anti-Corruption Bureau held simultaneous search operations on locations linked to two government officers in Guntur and Srikakulam districts and identified hidden assets beyond their known sources of income, on Friday.

In Guntur district, ACB teams from Ongole carried out search operations on the residence and other locations linked to AP State Housing Corporation deputy executive engineer Chunchu Anjaneyulu, in both Ongole and Guntur.

These include a G+3 mansion at Lambadi Donka, a flat in Bhagyanagar, eight house plots in Koppolu village, a G+1 house with eight rooms in Chirala, two house sites at Kothapeta and Chirala, a house in Dyvala Rapuru village, one kg gold ornaments, agriculture land of 1.90 acres at Kadavakuduru village of Chinaganjam mandal and a ₹50 lakhs sale deed agreement.

The ACB seized the documents and continued their searches till late in the evening.

In Srikakulam district, ACB teams from Srikakulam carried out search operations on the special enforcement bureau inspector of Ponnuru station, Peddakapu Srinivasa Rao, at his house and two other places and found hidden assets.

These include a building at Chodavaram village, two house sites at Appannadorapalem panchayat of Kothavalasa mandal, a house site at Amruthapuram village of Sabbavaram mandal, an acre of farmland at Thiruvalla village of Madugula mandal, a bank balance of ₹19.60 lakh, gold ornaments weighing 83.99gms, cash of ₹1,97,600, a kg of silver, expensive household articles, a car and a two-wheeler.

Meanwhile, in a case, former deputy tahsildar of Rudavaram mandal in Kurnool district, Akula Chinna Subbarayudu, was convicted for four years jail term and a fine of ₹3,00,000. It was in 2010 that a case was booked against him on charges of bribe-taking. Subsequently, a charge sheet had been filed against him.

The ACB court, Kurnool, imposed four years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 3,00,000 on him as the charges have been proven and. The court ordered the confiscation of all his ill-gotten assets.

In another case, the state government issued an order dismissing forest section officer Kumjam Bhaskara Rao after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 in 2010. A Rajahmundry ACB court convicted him.
