Hyderabad: Kattamuri Krishna alias Kittu, was working for a bike aggregator, but due to some issues, he had to give away his bike to his brother-in-law. However, determined to make a livelihood, he made up his mind to buy a new bike. To make money for a new bike, he started committing mobile snatchings in different parts of the city. He took the help of his neighbour, a minor, offering to buy him a new mobile. Thanks to the CCTV evidence, both landed in the police net.
DCP (North), Hyderabad Deepti Chandana said the duo was involved in nine mobile snatching offences in Hyderabad and Cyberabad commissionerates. Nine mobile phones and a bike belonging to their common friend, used for snatchings, were recovered from them, she said.
The duo targeted persons walking on the roads while speaking on mobile phones, holding mobile phones visibly in their hands and standing at bus stops, during late nights and snatched them and fled the places. They were planning to snatch mobiles till they could make money for buying a new bike and a new smartphone and dispose of them.
