Mystery over Kolkata student's suicide deepens
Visakhapatnam: Mystery over the death of 16-year-old Kolkata student Riti Saha has deepened, with many questions being raised.
Riti Saha had died on July 14, allegedly after a fall from the roof of the hostel she was staying in, according to IV Town police station of Visakhapatnam.
Her father has, however, alleged that his daughter has been murdered. He has filed a writ petition in the AP High Court. In the petition, he has stated that Vizag police have been inactive in collecting the CCTV footage as well as other evidence from the hostel and hospital.
The matter has gone on to the notice of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She spoke to Riti Saha’s father on Sunday. He informed the CM of his state that his daughter has died under unnatural circumstances more than a month ago, with many questions remaining unanswered.
When DC contacted Vizag DCP Vidyasagar Naidu, he said: “We are investigating as per merits. We will receive the forensic analysis report in 2 to 3 days. Some footage is yet to be retrieved.”
According to reports, Riti Saha’s case has become talk of the town in Kolkata.
