Cyberabad DCP to probe data leak heist
HYDERABAD: Since the data sold out by the accused is sensitive and confidential and belongs to defence, government, semi-government agencies and several other categories, it might be used by cyber criminals and could have serious implications for national security.
As of now, cases have been registered under the IPC and IT Act, said police commissioner Stephen Raveendra. Based on the outcome of the investigation, they are likely to initiate the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act (UAPA), NSA and the Official Secrets Act.
Further, as the case needs an in-depth probe, an SIT, led by DCP crimes, Cyberabad, Kalmeshwar Shingenavar will take over the investigation with immediate effect.
