Shame! Horror! The killing of an innocent man in Chamarajpet
Bengaluru: The horrific and deeply unsettling mob attack on a man in Chamarajpet on Wednesday afternoon where an angry mob chased down and beat the youngster, wrongly acused of child trafficking continued to send shockwaves across the city, unused to the mob fury that is now becoming endemic to Bengaluru.
The dead man, 26 year old Kaluram, son of late Bacchanram and a native of Rajasthan, previously employed at a tile factory in Pune had come to the city only two months ago in search of employment. The mob was galvanized into action by tea-shop regulars who were circulating a fake whats app pic of a suspected child trafficker, whose face resembled the unfortunate Kaluram's. Concerned by comments at the tea-shop, Kaluram attempted to flee but was chased by a mob in the area.
Based on the video taken by the public, Chamarajpet police arrested 14 people including two minors and four women. The accused have been identified as Gopi, 20, Anbu, 26, Vasanth Kumar, 32, Balan, 30, Nanda, 20, Thirumalesha, 28, Rajesh, 18, Anusha, 30, Sushila, 37, Indira, 30 and Vani, 41; all residents of Giripura, Anandapura and Flower Garden in Cottonpet.
The main accused, Kiran and Appu, seen on phone grabs as beating the victim to death with cricket bats are absconding.
