Kozhikode: A team of the Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special Squad on Wednesday seized 3 kg of ganja and arrested a person in this connection. Pookkaran Raju, aka Raju, 54, of Kalluthankadavu, has been arrested from the mofussil bus station on Mavoor Road.
The police found out that, Raju is been doing the drug peddling business in the city for several years and his major target are the school and college going students and also drivers and head load workers. He has even appointed few youngsters in the city as his carriers. The police said that Raju had confessed that he used to peddle ganja in the city and suburbs.Raju had earlier been convicted in a similar case. He would be produced before the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Court on Thursday. According to the police, more people are involved with Raju, who will be arrested in the coming days after questioning his about the links.
