Hyderabad: Driver gets 20 years for rape of four-year-old Â
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old driver was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment after he was found guilty for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in Manchal, under Rachakonda police limits on February 3.
The accused Dusari Raju, alias Katam, approached the victim on the pretext of giving money while she was playing before her house. He took her to a house in Manchal and committed the heinous crime, Manchal police said.
Later, the victim complained to her mother of severe pain. Despite being warned by the mother, Raju tried to assault the victim on the following day but she managed to escape and narrated about the sexual assault to her mother.
A written complaint sealed in an envelope was lodged by the victim's mother on February 5. Based on the complaint Manchal police immediately reacted and A. Raju, sub-inspector at Manchal police station arrested the accused and filed a case under section 376 IPC (rape) and various sections of POCSO and remanded his to judicial custody.
Second investigative officer M. Gangadhar filed a strong charge sheet.
The special POCSO court at LB Nagar convicted Dusari Raju and slapped him with 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of `20,000.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M, Bhagwat, and additional commissioner of police G. Sudheer Babu, while appreciating the efforts of all officials who ensured conviction of the accused, also announced rewards to each of them.
