Liquor scam kingpin’s employee moves HC against ED torture

Hyderabad: Delhi liquor scam kingpin Sharat Chandra Reddy’s staffer and an employee of Trident Chemphar, E. Chandan approached the Telangana High Court complaining that Enforcement Directorate (RD) officials had subjected him to third degree methods during the raids conducted in his house on September 16.

He said that they had slapped and hit his ear repeatedly, which resulted in a hearing loss and he was in hospital for four days.

The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy heard the case and directed ED authorities to file their counters on the accusations by December 12.

Chandan also challenged the constitutional validity of Rule-6 of Prevention of Money Laundering Rules 2005 and other sections. The petitioner urged the court to declare that the said section was in violation of his fundamental Rights.
