Mangaluru CCB Police Busts Rs 1.57 Crore Ambergris Smuggling Operation

Mangaluru: In a significant operation, the Mangaluru CCB police arrested three individuals and confiscated ambergris valued at Rs 1.57 crore.

The operation was conducted following a tipoff received by the police on Saturday, indicating that a group of four individuals was attempting to sell ambergris near Mahaveera Circle (Pumpwell) in Mangaluru city.
Acting swiftly on the information, a team from the Mangaluru CCB police conducted a raid at the specified location.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of 1.575 kg of ambergris, estimated to be worth Rs.1,57,50,000. In addition, the police also seized a car and three mobile phones. The total estimated value of the seized assets, including the car and mobile phones, stands at around Rs 1,62,80,000.

According to the police the three individuals arrested are Pyarejan alias Setu (37), hailing from Tamil Colony, Chikkamagaluru district (currently residing in Bantwal), Badruddin alias Badru (28) from Bantwal, and Rajesh R (22) from Nagapattanam, Tamil Nadu.
