2022 was a year of high-profile crimes in Rachakonda
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda central crime team, besides coordinating with special operations teams (SOTs) in cracking the Mahadev Jewellers heist case, has solved seven high-profile cases in 2022.
In August, five persons were arrested for a double murder in Saroornagar. The accused, Narsimha, Victory Babu, Sai Goud, Shiva and Anjaneyulu were arrested and Rs 15.47 lakh, including 25 tulas of gold and Rs 2.37 lakh cash, were recovered.
In a case of interstate temple theft, four persons were arrested in LB Nagar and valuables worth Rs 19.4 lakh, including 205 grams of gold, two cars and four bikes, were recovered from the accused.
In a combined operation, the Rachakonda crime team and Cyberabad Police arrested an interstate robber duo, Rafikul Khan and Sheikh Suraj, from Vanasthalipuram and recovered Rs 27.41 lakh from them. The accused were involved in seven burglaries in the area, the police said.
A three-member gang of robbers, headed by kingpin Jamsheed Khan, was also busted and Rs 20,000, 152 MRF tyres, a car, two bikes, six live rounds of 8m calibre ammo and property worth Rs 42.84 lakh were recovered from them.
Another gang of robbers, headed by kingpin Shaik Yamin, was arrested for their suspected role in 40 robberies in Abdullapurmet police station limits of Rachakonda. The police recovered Rs 23.8 lakh from them.
A gang of robbers involved in ransacking residences in five districts was busted, accused Dasari Murali, Kuthani Paramesh and Thota Sariaiah were arrested and property worth Rs 27.4 lakh was recovered.
The SOT also unravelled a fingerprint surgery racket in Ghatkesar, wherein accused Gajjalakondurgari Naga Muneswar Reddy and three others were charged with performing surgeries to evade international migration norms for work.
The Malkajgiri SOT, meanwhile, busted an international narcotics racket, by arresting accused Mohammed Kasim and Rasuldeen for supplying pseudoephedrine from the city to Australia and New Zealand, among others, through couriers. The police recovered 8.5 kilograms of pseudoephedrine worth Rs 9 crore and Rs 4.02 lakh cash from them.
