Belagavi: After being in Hindalga prison for seven days, MLA Raju Kage and his family got bail on Wednesday. The Principal and Sessions Court in Belagavi granted a conditional bail to eight people, including Raju Kage, who were arrested on January 9 for attacking one Vivek Shetty, a resident of Kagwad.
Sources said those released on bail are Raju Kage, Trupti Kage, Shobha Kage, Prasanna Kage, Shankar Waghamare, Sudarshan Nandani, Malagouda Patil and Ravi Nagave. This includes four people who had helped Kage and his family flee, after an FIR against them.
The police have totally arrested 18 people in connection with the attack.
On January 9, the Kage family and close associates had dragged Shetty out of his house and brutally assaulted him up at the MLA's godown. They were angry about the write-up posted by Shetty against MLA's daughter Trupti on his Facebook wall.
