KURNOOL: A married woman was gang raped by two perverts at Halaharvi village on the early hours of Saturday. The motive behind the rape was said to have been financial transactions between the accused and the victim’s husband, revealed a source. The accused Ranganna was known to have taken a personal loan from Raju (the victim’s husband) some time ago. The financial transactions between Ranganna and Raju lead to quarrels and a month ago both of them were said to have been involved in a physical fight. With the intervention of the community elders they had to put a stop to it for some time, it was said.
Ranganna who could not bear the gross insult sketched a plan to do something dire to Raju. With this thought coming to his mind Ranganna shared this with his wife and a friend. They agreed with his plan and Ranganna and his friend attacked Raju at his house in the early hours of Saturday. First they stuffed clothes into their mouths and dragged Raju and his wife to another room where they tied them to a cot, it was learnt.
Later Ranganna and his friend sexually assaulted Raju’s wife and manhandled Ranganna and fled the scene. Ranganna however managed to free himself and screamed for help. On hearing the screams his relatives came to his aid and they shifted the victim to the Adoni Area Hospital where she is being treated. However the news spread like wild fire in the village and it reached the police station. Alur CI Ghouse speaking said that Raju and Ranganna had financial disputes. On this issue they both quarreled with each other. In a fit of rage, Ranganna accompanied by his wife and friend attacked Raju at his house and assaulted him.
He said that as per the victim’s version, she was tortured by poking a stick to her private parts. She was provided treatment at the Adoni area hospital and later she was shifted to Kurnool General Hospital for scanning of her lower abdomen as the Adoni area hospital did not have the facility of scanning.A man hunt was also launched to nab the accused. He did not reveal the name of the other person who was involved in the dastardly act.
