Kurnool: A group of assailants attacked and brutally killed a person at Potlapadu village in Devanakonda mandal on Tuesday evening.
Hanumanthu, 52, had been the main accused in the murder of Chennayya and Pothappa in 2008–09 in a case of factional rivalry. He had been staying away from the village since then.
On Tuesday, however, Hanumanthu, accompanied by his brother-in-law, visited Potlapadu to participate in the village festival. Noticing his presence, about four to five of his rivals attacked and killed Hanumanthu on the spot. They, however, left his brother-in-law escaped from the place.
Aspari sub-inspector Vara Prasad said they have registered a case and are investigating.
