7-year-old girl kidnapped at Tirupati, second in one year
Tirupati: Nandini, a seven-year-old girl, has allegedly been kidnapped by a 40-year-old unidentified woman near the free accommodation at Tirumala. CCTV footage shows a middle aged, saree clad woman wandering the streets, picking up the girl, and walking way. The police has formed special teams in Tirupati and Tirumala to rescue the kid.
Nandini’s parents Suresh and Dakshayani hail from the Srikalahasti mandal of Chittoor district. They work at a tea shop in Tirumala and have been living on top of the hill for over a year.
On Sunday, when Nandini’s parents couldn’t locate her, they suspected that something had gone wrong. They approached the Tirumala police on Monday. The police immediately verified the CCTV footage and confirmed that the girl had been kidnapped while she was refilling her water bottle.
The case is being monitored by Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty. The CCTV footage is being checked thoroughly, and 14 teams have been deployed to track the girl.
The Tirumala police has released a photo of the kidnapper. Speaking to media persons, Tirumala JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju said, “TTD vigilance and the police have already sent their teams to Vellore in Tamil Nadu. It is suspected that the women took the girl to some place on the Vellore bus route as per the CCTV footage.” This is the second case of abduction to be registered in Tirupati this year.
