Three sisters thrown out of train in Uttar Pradesh, one dead
Lucknow: Three sisters were thrown out off a moving train in Sitapur district. One girl aged six, died on the tracks and two others, aged seven and four, have been admitted to a hospital with serious injuries.
The family belongs to Motihari in Bihar and was travelling on the Amritsar-Saharsa Express. Police said Muniya was found dead on the tracks on Tuesday and her sisters Anbul Khatoon and Shamim were found seriously injured about 50 km ahead.
Agency reports state that the siblings’ mother was also pushed out. Reports state police found the body of the mother, Afreena Khatoon on tracks on Wednesday and she might have been the first to be pushed out.
“When we reached the spot and found the youngest sister and then news came about the eldest sister being found near Goregaon village. Information about the third sister came later in the day. It took time to establish that the three girls were sisters,” he said.
The police officer said that the girls were extremely weak and may not have eaten for days. The motive was not known immediately but it was suspected that the family was trying to get rid of the sisters since girls are viewed as a major liability.
The Sitapur police have approached the Motihari police to help them in tracking the family since the girls are unable to give their full address.
