Vellore: Four men who tried to smuggle sandalwood were nabbed by public near Tirupattur here.
Narasimha Raja of Lakkinayakanpatti in Tirupattur raised a sandalwood tree on his land.
On Thursday, the gang chopped the tree, when one Anbalagan noticed them and tried to nab them, and the men fled.
But, Anbalagan fell down and broke his leg. As he shouted in pain, neighbours rushed out caught one of them.
Police were alerted. They came and held enquiries with the man.
Anbalagan was admitted to a hospital. Police are searching for the others.
