NRI mom returns to city for ‘kidnapped son’

HYDERABAD: Tarannum Naaz, who was anxiously awaiting reunion with her only son, two-year-old Ryan, allegedly abducted by her husband from Boston, United States, arrived in the city to take her son but claimed that she was not permitted to see him.

According to her mother Jahangirunnisa Begum, Naaz, a pharmacist in Boston, stated that her husband Srinivas had kidnapped Ryan on December 16 and brought him to Hyderabad. Begum said Naaz had not eaten or slept properly since then.

Naaz had emailed a complaint to the Rachakonda women's police station (WPS) on December 16, claiming that she had filed a case with the Boston police and that the court there had issued orders to take Ryan into her custody, said S. Lakshmi, WPS assistant sub-inspector. The family claimed that Srinivas had violated the Boston court orders by denying Ryan's custody to Naaz, Lakshmi said.

When Srinivas learnt that Naaz had returned to India, he allegedly relocated to another area. On Monday, he called Naaz for a meeting. When they met, Naaz inquired about Ryan and begged him to allow her to see her son, Begum said. “My daughter is unable to speak since her health has deteriorated owing to dehydration, a lack of sleep, and a lack of food. Ryan is her only son,” said Begum.
