Hyderabad: A 21-year-old pregnant girl has been kidnapped. Her captor will allegedly let her go if she aborts the baby. He shot a video in which the girl is seen bound and gagged, in a semi-naked state, and sent it to her family, threatening to circulate her video on the internet if they approach the police. The girl herself has shot and released another video describing the place where she is being held and asking for help.
According to the Chandrayangutta police, her mobile phone is still switched on and she seems to be on the move. Technical teams were able to track her phone’s location to Shaheennagar at 3 pm and Bahadurpura at 6 pm on Monday.
The girl is a resident of Bandlaguda. “She voluntarily stepped out of her house on Saturday and did not return. When her mother tried calling her, she asked her not to keep calling and said that she would be back soon,” said Y. Prakash Reddy, the Inspector of Chandrayangutta. Initially, a missing person’s case was booked. However, the girl’s family received a disturbing 1:15 minute-long video of her on Sunday night.
“Her relatives approached us at 2 am that night and shared their plight. We then changed the case to a kidnapping and started an investigation,” said Mr Prakash Reddy. The police have formed two teams to find the girl. They are trying to track her down through her cell phone.
In the video released by the girl, she says, “My God will never forgive me if I kill the child. I can never do that. I have decided to keep the baby. I am really scared here. He came with three men, took me out, offered me a drink and raised his hand when I refused. Now, I am being held in a place which has two main gates and I am being asked to kill my child in exchange for my freedom. Please help me get out of here. I can hear my baby talking to me and saying that he wants to see the world. Please help me get out without killing the poor baby.”
The girl’s mother said that the family was threatened against going to the cops, “They (the kidnappers) told us that they would spread semi-naked videos of her across the whole country if we approached the police” she said.
Based on the mother’s statement, the cops began to suspect that the girl’s boyfriend, Mustafa, was involved in the kidnapping. They called him in for questioning. “We did not get any leads from the boy. The news that is spreading on social media about her being raped is highly unlikely to be true. We are probing all angles and will track her down soon,” said the inspector.
