Bolarum inspector booked for drunk driving
HYDERABAD: An inspector posted in the IT cell of the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) was booked for drunk driving by the Bolaram police on Saturday morning. Inspector Srinivas was driving his car in a rash manner and rammed it into a pick-up van coming in the opposite direction, police said.
According to the Bolaram police, the incident happened near the Fourth Training Battalion around 7:30 a.m. Srinivas, who was in an inebriated condition, was heading home to SR Nagar from his friend’s place in Shamirpet, police said.
When he was subject to a breathalyzer after the accident, the reading was 200, police said, adding that the car had four pending challans.
The pick-up van driver, identified as Sridhar, suffered a fracture in his left leg and is being treated in a private hospital, police said.
Police sources disclosed that a compromise had been struck with him for Rs10 lakhs.
The front portion of both vehicles was badly damaged. Following the incident there was a traffic jam for more than 45 minutes on the road, the police had to push both vehicles to the roadside and clear the traffic.
“We registered a case of drunken driving (DD) and rash and negligent driving under section 337 of IPC against Srinivas and seized his vehicle,” Bolaram inspector C.H. Srinivas said.
