KAKINADA: A devotee K. Parabrahma Sastry (41) of Piduguralla village in Palnadu district was stabbed to death by another devotee near Lord Mandeswara Swamy Devasthanam at Mandapalli village in Kothapeta mandal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Tuesday night.
Ravulapalem circle inspector N. Rajini Kumar said eight devotees, including Parabrahma and Geddam Nagabhushanam came to the temple in Mandapalli on Monday to offer prayers. But the temple had closed by then. All the devotees decided to have their darshan on Tuesday.
Before having their dinner, they decided to consume liquor. While drinking an argument started between Parabrahma and Nagabhushanam. Nagabhushanam is stated to have Parabrahma Sastry with a liquor bottle, which broke. Nagabhushanam stabbed Parabrahma to death with the broken bottle.
Kothapeta police have registered a case.
Nagabhushanam had lived in Kakinada before shifting to Piduguralla. It is stated Nagabhushanam is the brother of G. Achyuta Ramaiah, who was killed in an encounter with police, when R.P. Meena had been the SP of East Godavari district.
