WARANGAL: A youth died by suicide late on Friday night on the outskirts of Kamanpura of Peddapalli district after posting a message on social media demanding justice to all victims of the alleged job racket at Ramagundam Fertilizer Company Limited (RFCL), in which the name of TRS MLA Korakanti Chander Patel has been linked by Opposition parties.
The deceased was identified as Munja Harish, 32, of Ambalapur of Shankarapatnam mandal in Karimnagar. He was survived by his wife and two children. In his message, Harish mentioned that middlemen had collected Rs 7 lakh from him after assuring him of a permanent job at the RFCL.
Four months after joining the company, new contractors took over and removed him from the job. Harish said when he approached the middlemen and demanded his money back, they did not respond properly. He sent a WhatsApp message to his family members and friends saying that victims of the job racket should get justice after his death. He requested the media to extend support to the victims.
After posting the message, he switched off his mobile phone. His family approached the police who traced Harish’s location and rushed to the spot in an attempt to save him but Harish had already died. He had parked his two-wheeler and left his purse on the outskirts of Kamanpur. The body was shifted to Karimnagar hospital for post mortem.
It is learnt that more than 400 unemployed youth were deceived by middlemen promising them permanent jobs in the RFCL. But after new agencies took over the contract, all the workers were removed from their jobs. Following this, the RFCL job scam victims have been staging dharnas for the past month demanding that the middlemen return their money.
Leaders of Opposition, along with some peoples’ organisations, have levelled allegations that Ramagundam TRS MLA Korakanti Chander Patel and his followers had collected about Rs 45 crore from unemployed youth by assuring them permanent jobs in the RFCL.
