MP: Class 4 student attacked by classmates 108 times' with geometry compass
Bhopal: A student of Class four was attacked with a geometry compass by three of his classmates in a private school in Indore city in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Monday.
The student was hit with the geometry compass ‘108 times’ by three of his classmates, a complaint lodged by his father in the local police station said.
He was injured in the attack and taken to the local hospital where he was given first aid treatment, police said.
According to his father, the incident occurred at around two pm on November 24.
“I have sought CCTV footage of the classroom from the school authorities to ascertain what led to the fight between them. But, the CCTV footage is yet to be made available to me”, police said quoting his father.
State child welfare committee (CWC) chairperson Pallavi Porwal said that the matter was brought to her notice and she asked the police to probe it and submit a report.
“It is a shocking incident. I have sought a report from the police to ascertain the cause of violent behaviour of children at such a young age”, she said.
She said the CWC would counsel the children and their parents and find out if the kids were exposed to video games showing violent scenes.
Assistant commissioner of police of Indore Vivek Singh Chouhan said that the medical examination of the student was done following the complaint.
All the students involved in the incident are below ten years of age and appropriate steps are being taken as per legal provisions, he said.
