Kochi: 3 killed in four separate mishaps
Kochi: As many as three persons died and another sustained serious injury in four separate accidents in various parts of the district since Wednesday night. The deceased were identified as Afsal, 23, of Kalampur near Muva-ttupuzha, Joby, 31, of Ma-nnathoor and Varghese Paul, 53, of Kakkoor.
In the first incident, a lorry hit a motorcycle at Vazhapilli Junction near Moovattupuzha along the MC road, killing Afsal.
In another mishap at East Marady, a car rammed a motorcycle parked at one side of the road, seriously injuring a man sitting over it. “Joby was talking on mobile when the car rammed his motorcycle from behind seriously injuring him. Though he was rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries,” they said.
In the third mishap, a man named Varghese Paul lost control of the car after it hit a scooter rider in front of him and rammed a wall at Anchalpetty in Muvattupuzha block on Wednesday around 7.45 pm. He died on the spot.
Meanwhile, a 56-year old man hailing from Thiruvaniyoor sustained serious injuries when his bike was hit by a mini bus at Vettikkal near Mulanthuruthy while he was entering the main road from a side road.
“The mishap happened at 12.30 noon on Thursday. He is undergoing treatment in a city hospital,” police said.
