Court rejected the bail plea of Teenmar Mallanna and his aides
HYDERABAD: A court rejected the bail plea of Teenmar Mallanna and his four aides, who are charged with abducting and assaulting police constables in an attempt to murder case. The accused were sent back to the Cherlapally prison. The next hearing is scheduled for April 4.
In court, Mallanna’s counsel contended that the police had framed his client, claiming that he was not present at the scene at the time of the incident. The public prosecutor said the constables had identified Mallanna.
The Medipally police filed a counter to Mallanna’s bail plea, stating that his release could cause a further disturbance.
The incident took place on March 22, when Chintapandu Naveen Kumar alias Teenmar Mallanna and his aides allegedly abducted constables who were performing routine checks near Raghavendra Bhavan in Peerzadiguda.
In their remand report, the police stated that the four aides were armed with lathis and abducted police constables in civil clothes to the Q-News office.
The remand report stated that despite the constables producing their IDs, the five continued to assault them. They were taken into a room on Mallanna’s order, their phones snatched and allegedly assaulted severely by Mallanna, with a stick.
Subsequently, special teams and teams from nearby police stations rescued the constables and arrested the accused. “The same day, we produced them before the court and they were judicially remanded,” Medipally inspector Govardana Giri said.
