HYDERABAD: Two men were arrested for raping a 12-year-old girl in Vanasthalipuram on a complaint filed by her parents, after the girl was found to be six months pregnant.
The police said that as the girl did not menstruate for the past six months, the family had taken her for a medical check-up, during which they found her to be pregnant.
Upon questioning the girl, she confided in her parents and named the two people, including a neighbour working as a private employee, who had raped her.
According to the police, the accused had raped her four times over the past nine months when her parents were away from home. The police said that a DNA test of the foetus also matched with a sample taken from one of the accused.
The girl was sent for counselling as she is traumatised upon learning of her pregnancy and recounting her experiences.
The police said that the accused may have raped another girl too, a friend of the victim, and are questioning them in this regard.
