SOT raids: Five held for supplying duplicate auto spare parts worth Rs 40 lakh

Hyderabad: The sleuths of Special Operation Team Medchal zone conducted raids on 30 automobile shops in twin cities and districts involved in selling duplicate sparts branded companies and seized duplicate spare parts worth Rs 40 lakhs.

SOT team conducted simultaneously raided on 28 shops in twin cities and two in districts involved in selling and buying duplicate spare parts and also the supplying shops -Bhagyalaxmi, Automobiles, Alwal & Diamond Automobiles, Lothkunta, Mahalaxmi Automobiles, Bachupally and Mathaji Automobiles, Suraram who were the receivers of the infringed duplicate automobile spare parts from the accused. The SOT raided two shops in Warangal and one in Siddipet.

Initially SOT based on information raided shops in the Medchal zone based on the shop owner's information they continued their raids till Monday night in twin cities and districts arresting five persons who were supplying and selling duplicate automobile spare parts of Honda, Hero and Bajaj companies, sources in SOT disclosed.

The accused identified as Ganpat Kumawat alias Ganesh, Suresh Chand and Sravan Kumar are siblings natives of Pali district, Rajisthan, police said.
They had migrated to the city in the year 2008 for eking of livelihood and as per their plan initially they had established automobile spare part shops in Alwal in the name of Diamond and BhagyalaxmiAutomobiles.

Later they decided to earn easy money by deceiving the innocent people in the way of supplying sub standard (duplicate) Automobile spare parts to various automobiles shops that include 28 shops in city, one shop in Siddipet, two shops in Warangal and other shops in various districts, police said.

They expanded their illegal business in order to gain wrongful money, they got acquittance with one Naresh, a native of Rajasthan and resides in Delhi engaged in supplying of duplicate automobile spare parts by stickering them in the name of reputed branded two wheeler manufacturing companies like *HONDA, HERO, BAJAJ and other companies, police said.

Accordingly, the accused persons had been procuring duplicate items/spare parts besides various branded company packing materials covers, stickers, logo, et., from Delhi through Naresh using Pragathi Transports.

After receiving the duplicate spare parts they used to pack the same material in the branded company and pack them using fake barcodes through team viewer application that resembled the original barcode, police sources disclosed.

The shop keepers of automobile spare parts wantedly used to buy the infringed duplicate spare parts from the accused persons for their illegal gain, a police officer said.
