UP: 14-year-old girl dragged out of house, gangraped by 2 men

Locals caught one of the accused, locked him in a hut and wanted to torch it, but police arrived in time and pacified them.

Mathura: Two men in a village in Uttar Pradesh allegedly dragged a 14-year-old girl out of her house, took her to an empty plot nearby and gangraped her on Tuesday. Police have arrested one of the accused while hunt is underway for the second accused.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the incident took place in the night when the victim was watching TV in the room, while her mother was sleeping on the terrace and her father was not at home.

The two men, identified as 35-year-old Yunus and Anees, allegedly knocked at the door of their house. When the girl opened the door, they dragged her to an empty plot and took turns to rape her.

“On hearing the knock, I thought my husband has returned. It was only after my daughter screamed for help that the neighbours woke up and caught Yunus,” victim's mother said.

The incident led to tension in the village as the locals wanted to torch a hut, in which they had locked Yunus, a wrestler. However, police arrived in the morning and took the culprit into custody.

Police have registered an FIR under POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile, search is on for Anees, who worked at slaughterhouse.
