Bhimavaram: Girl's body found in bushes; uncle as suspect

Kakinada: The body of a 14-year-old girl, Munupu Kumari, was recovered from Bhimavaram on Thursday, a day after she went missing. The body was lying in the bushes near her house in Leprosy Colony area at Bhimavaram in West Godavari District.

The girl’s parents Anjibabu and Aruna were daily wage labourers.

According to Bhimavaram police, the girl was studying Class VII in Bhimavaram. She went to the school on Wednesday, but did not return home. The parents lodged a complaint on Wednesday.

Police said the locals found the girl’s body in the bushes and informed them. “A relative of the girl, said to be her father’s cousin, might have raped and murdered her. His wife was away in Kuwait,” police said.

“The suspect is residing in his house alone. The girl’s clothes were found at his house and there were injuries on the girl’s body,” police said, adding that the West Godavari SP, Ravi Prakash, inspected the spot.
